Diets Don’t Work!
I Know For Sure, I Tried Them All
I started dieting when I was just 10 years old. I tried the Atkins Diet (when it was first introduced in the 1970's), the Weight Loss Center Diet (more than I can count), the Cabbage Soup Diet, the 3-Day Diet, the Low-Fat Diet, the Food Diary Diet, the No Dessert Diet, the No Sugar Diet... the list goes on. But the more diets I tried, the more weight I gained. What I didn't realize was that every time I went on a diet, my metabolism slowed down because my body thought it was starving. I'd lose weight on the diet, but like 95% of dieters, I regained the weight, and ended up weighing more than when I started the diet. Panicked, I would try yet another diet. When I realized my weight had reached 178 pounds, and that at 5'4" I was considered obese, I knew things had to change. And, finally, I knew diets wouldn't work. I had tried them all. But if diets don't work, what will work?
Live Like A Naturally Thin Person!
I used to hate people who were naturally thin. I looked at them with envy, wishing I could eat like they did and be thin. When out for a meal, they ordered exactly what they wanted. They didn't worry about how many calories, fat grams or carbs were in the meal. They ordered it and enjoyed it. They ate what they truly wanted, and they stayed thin. I wanted to know their "secret." For several months, I researched naturally thin people. I studied their eating and exercise habits, and I discovered their secret: they didn't diet. If they ate a larger meal, they didn't feel guilty and try to skip the next one. They just seemed to naturally eat less at the next meal. It was as if they had built-in calorie, fat-gram and carb counters in their bodies. They knew exactly what their bodies needed, and they allowed themselves to have it. They were in tune with when they needed to eat, and knew exactly how much to eat. No meal plans, no portion control. They just knew, intuitively. Would you like to know, too?
I Lost Weight Without Even Trying
I decided to try an experiment. I decided to ACT AS IF I was a naturally thin person. I pretended like I was at my "ideal weight," a weight where I was healthy and that I could easily maintain. This created a major shift for me. For the first time, my goal wasn't to lose weight. It was to take care of myself. Like naturally thin people, I tried to eat exactly what I was hungry for, and I paid close attention to exactly how much my body truly needed. Sometimes I wanted what I had labeled "bad foods" -- pizza, french fries, desserts. But I discovered that when I gave myself total permission to have these foods, I was satisfied on just a small amount. And, I actually started to crave "good foods" -- vegetables, fruits, lean meats. This had never happened before! I always ate "good foods" because I "should," and I had to fight off my cravings for "bad foods." Finally, my eating was truly balanced! I trusted my intuition for the type and amount of food that was right for me. And I lost weight in the process! Do you want this same success?
